As early as he can remember James H. Shaw, Jr. (Jim) felt called to stand up for the underdog. He solidified that commitment as a graduate and active alumnus of the Trial Lawyers College. This elite tribe of “people’s lawyers” lean on each other to zealously and creatively battle for the individual against the vast resources of the government and major corporations.
Jim has litigated close to a thousand cases and tried dozens of jury trials to verdict. He has secured multiple NOT-GUILTY results and countless dismissals prior to verdict on cases including drug charges, sex crimes, and other violent crimes. Jim focuses on major felonies, but misdemeanor or murder he applies the same vigor in defense of the accused.
Jim earned his JD from Oklahoma City University School of Law, where he was involved in Oklahoma Innocence Project, and was President of the Agricultural/Environmental Law society. He played college football at Samford University and earned a BA in Communication with minors in History and English from the University of Oklahoma.
Before returning to the family business, Jim worked out of Fort Lauderdale consulting on acquisitions and development of marinas, resorts, shipyards, and waterfront commercial property around the world. During his time in the boat business, he worked to update and modernize the Federal Longshoreman and Working Waterfront Statutes. Directly after college Jim worked in various positions in the Florida Keys and South Florida as a marine biology researcher, instructor, and boat captain.
In his free time Jim volunteers with youth baseball as well as on-the-ground problem solving for Northwest Arkansas non-profits such as Potters House and related programs.
Jim lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas with an entitled and overtrained birddog named Beesly. He is an avid fish chaser, a casual bird hunter, a cycling enthusiast, and an obnoxious fan of the Texas Rangers.
